The Company’s Annual Food Truck Rodeo Raises Funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
May 16, 2016 – Cary, NC – Biologics, Inc. is excited to announce that its annual Food Truck Rodeo for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society raised $15,657, making it the largest fundraising event in the company’s history.
The event featured live music, yard games, a raffle and local food trucks*. Organized by the employee-led community service program, ECHO (Employees Caring and Helping Others), the event was open to the public and attracted guests from many local businesses.
“Leading this initiative provides so much joy,” said Erica Sykut, Strategic Account Manager, Biologics and ECHO Chair. “Our employees are the most generous, kind-hearted people I know, and when they come out, they come out BIG. They rally their family, friends and the community to come together to find a cure for the patients who inspire and touch us all every day. I’m so proud of their efforts for helping to make this year’s event a success; together we can do extraordinary things.”
All of the participating food trucks generously donated a portion of the day’s proceeds, and money was raised through ticket sales for coveted prizes including an Apple watch, Beats headphones and an iPad. Biologics’ fundraising campaign will culminate with the Light The Night Walk in October, where team members will walk with patients, survivors and others to support LLS’s mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
Biologics has supported LLS for nine years, and earned an Outstanding Fundraising Achievement Award in 2015 as one of the top five corporate fundraising teams in the Triangle area. Additionally, several Biologics’ employees were recognized this year at the annual Light The Night Awards for their individual fundraising efforts.
“Biologics, Inc. is an incredible supporter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and we truly value the partnership they have created with our organization,” said Emily Blust, Executive Director, North Carolina Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. “To date, Biologics has raised an impressive $69,000 through their participation in the Light The Night Walk over the years. Generous companies with caring employees like Biologics are the reason that LLS is able to continue driving our mission forward, and they make the hope of a cure possible, not someday, but today!”
